CIMP: Creative Improvised Music Projects

Bodies&Soul

Jeff Fuccillo, I think, was pretty much on the mark when he wrote in the Willamette Weekly "the saxophonist has mellowed without slipping into mediocrity … Lowe chirps out a distinctive sound that's both elegant and raw" while Option noted that this was not the "wild man" of ESP days but "someone older and gentler" and Walter White (Victory Music) said the playing had "strategic grace and controlled energy." The All Music Guide called it "thoughtful but never predictable." Almost every review remarked positively on Frank's solo take on "Body & Soul."

This recording was chosen by Sam Prestianni as one of the year's 10 best in Jazziz Magazine and, along with #102, was chosen for inclusion in the book The Best Music CD Art & Design (Rockport 1998).
